Sixth form at ESA
KEY STAGE 5: Ages 16-18
The Sixth Form represents the final two years of secondary education in the British system, for ages 16-18, Years 12 and 13.
Students at ESA select 4 International A-level subjects, including either Spanish or English, depending on their native language. This language exam is taken in Y12, allowing them to focus on their other subjects in Y13. Alongside the A-level program, students can also opt to study subjects from the Spanish EBAU curriculum, known as PCEs. This allows them to maximise their entry points for Spanish universities.

Preparing for A-levels

The A-level course at ESA is a two-year programme that allows students to specialise in their areas of interest while developing the skills needed to succeed in higher education. A-levels are the main pathway into university in the UK and are also widely recognised internationally. They allow for in-depth and rigorous study of a small number of subjects, fostering academic excellence.
A-levels are widely recognised for:
- Academic depth
- Subject specialisation
- Strong preparation for university-style study
- Development of independent thinking and analytical skills
Academic Structure and Entry Requirements

Over the course of the two-year programme, students undertake an in-depth study of three or four subjects, with Spanish A-level included as a compulsory subject in our curriculum. Our A-levels are accredited by Pearson.
Additionally, students sit the Cambridge English qualifications CAE (C1) or CPE (C2), which are essential for success in international academic settings.
To join the A-Level programme, students must have successfully completed IGCSEs, with a minimum of five passes.
